The Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) were developed to teach firearms safety and meet the mandatory requirements for licensing under section 7 of the Firearms Act. These courses are designed with the Beginner in mind.
We offer these as a combined course, given over a 2-day period. Knowledge of Firearms Safety takes time, and practice. By combining these courses, you gain much more experience and more variety of experience. Even if you don't intend to shoot hand guns, knowledge of them will still benefit you, and the additional experience of learning to handle them safely will help establish strong habits in your handling of all guns. In addition, it is not uncommon for new shooters to discover an interest in hand guns after getting more comfortable with their long guns and seeing more of what is available to them in the shooting sports.
Section 7 of the Firearms Act says that individuals wishing to possess or acquire non-restricted or Restricted firearms must take the appropriate course, pass the required exams and then have their application approved before obtaining their License.
